Former Argentina Goalkeeper Sergio Goycochea stated that Confederations Cup is an historic opportunity for Chile. The Copa America Champions are responsible for knocking out Argentina from Confederations Cup and are all set to make debut in this “Tournament of Champions“. The former goalkeeper believes that Chile have all what it need to lift this trophy. He also commended the character of Chilean stars Arturo Vidal and Alexis Sanchez.
This Is An Historic Opportunity For Chile, Says Sergio Goycochea
Goycochea won the Copa America title in 1991 and strongly believes that Chile can shock other giants of Confederations Cup. Goycochea also won the Confederations Cup title in 1992. During his visit to city Santiago, the goalkeeper said
“There was a strong Chilean generation in my time, including great players like Zamorano, Yanez, Basay and Salas. However, the current crop, with the likes of Alexis, Vidal, Bravo and Medel, represent a watershed for Chilean Football, not only because they’ve won the Copa America twice, but also due to the character they show on the pitch.”

“It will be a delight for the Russian fans to watch that side take on Cameroon, Germany and Australia. Chile have a team capable of reaching the final.”
Chile are in Group B with World Champions Germany, African Champions Cameroon and Asian Champions Australia. La Roja will begin their Confederations Cup campaign on 18th June 2017 at the Otkrytiye Arena. Two best teams from each group will advance to the semi final round.
The semi final matches will be played on 28 and 29th June, whereas final will be played on 2nd July 2017 at the Krestovsky Stadium.
